Significance

The development of 21st century skills and values as part of the school curriculum requires teachers to prioritize metacognitive pedagogy, AI technology and life-wide learning experiences to develop students with the competencies of learning to learn, self-assessment and ethical decision making (see figure 1).

The CoP proposed for this project will develop strategies that will assist schools to meet what we might call “the metacognitive and AI challenge”. 21st century students require generic skills and values, as well as subject based knowledge and skills. The main outcome of this project is to achieve this goal and feed the results back into teacher education.

This initiative will enable FEHD to support these local school networks for the purposes of strengthening the school curriculum. At the same time, such network building will for strengthening our capacities for conducting research, developing innovative programme and facilitating knowledge transfer.
